How much & how often should I bottle-feed?The amount you feed your baby will vary depending on a number of factors, including their age, their weight and of course appetite!Every baby is different, and every mum needs to learn how much is enough, but not too much! The best thing to do is read the instructions provided with your formula milk. This information will help too, and if you have any questions, contact our team. How much does my baby need at each stage? The table below provides a guide to how often you should be feeding your baby, dependent on their age.
Of course, this is only a guide, and if your baby is premature or of a low birth weight, their feeding requirements will be different. If you’re unsure, you can always speak to your midwife or call us to find out more. When do I start timing feeds?Time the feeds from the moment you start until the beginning of the next feed (and remember, with winding and changing, every feed may last about an hour). So if you feed your baby at 12 noon and they go back to sleep at 1pm, expect to feed them again at about 4pm. |
